Samsung Android Wear smartwatch tipped for Google I/O
0 Samsung will take the wraps off an Android Wear smartwatch at Google I/O, say sources that spoke to the folks at CNET. The wearable has reportedly been made in two varieties: one with Samsung's own chips and one with Qualcomm hardware. Which of the two will be unveiled wasn't said.
Samsung's Android Wear smartwatch will be built upon its Gear 2 Neo, it has been said, and while no additional information about what to expect was given, one of the sources say Google I/O attendees may be given the smartwatch.
The move will be an interesting one, with Samsung taking up Google's software despite recently switching to Tizen for the second iteration of its Gear offering. It has been expected that Samsung will introduce its own Android Wear smartwatch, given that it is one of the platform's confirmed partners.
Earlier this week, an FCC listing for a smaller Gear smartwatch surfaced, hinting that an Android Wear wearable from Samsung would be arriving soon. The maker has also recently filed for the trademark of "Galaxy Wear", lending further credence to the rumors.
