Surface Pro 3 launch sees Core i3 and i7 release detailed

It's Surface Pro 3 day, and Microsoft is marking the release of its latest Windows tablet with some new news on its siblings and accessories. The Surface Pro 3 will be available to order in Core i3 and Core i7 variants from August 1st in the US and Canada, Microsoft has said today, while the Core i5 model turns up in stores from today.

Meanwhile, Microsoft has also confirmed a release date for one of the more eagerly-anticipated accessories, the Docking Station for Surface Pro. That's up for preorder from today, though deliveries aren't expected to begin until August 15th, some ways off.

Aa for how much all this will cost you, Microsoft confirmed pricing for the range shortly after the Surface Pro 3 got its official reveal.

The entry-level Core i3 model starts at $799, with 64GB of storage and 4GB of memory. At the other end of the range, the Core i7 tablet will start at $1,549 for the 256GB version with 8GB of memory.

However, there'll also be a $1,949 top-end Surface Pro 3 configuration, with a Core i7 processor, 512GB of solid-state storage, and 8GB of memory. The existing Core i5 Surface Pro 3 is priced from be $999.

As for the Docking Station, that's priced at $199.99 and includes 4K support for outputting to an external Ultra HD monitor.

By the end of August, meanwhile, Microsoft says that the Surface Pro 3 - and accessories - will be available in all three processor versions in the following countries:

Australia, Austria, Belgium, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Luxembourg, Malaysia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand and the United Kingdom.
