Fujifilm has introduced its smallest offering in its X Series, the Fujifilm XQ1 compact digital camera. The device maker is referring to the XQ1 as a “premium” camera, giving photographers a pocket-sized shooter with a sensor much larger than what you’d find in most digital cameras of comparable size. The camera is being launched alongside multiple accessories, including a waterproof case.

The X Series elements is the XQ1′s bragging point, with the device offering a 2/3-inch X-Trans CMOS II 12-megapixel sensor. With this sensor, the camera eschews a traditional optical low pass filter, with the X-Trans controlling issues of false colors and moire. With this CMOS offering comes an ISO range of 100 to 12,800 and a promise of quality images in low-light settings.

As far as other features go, this compact digital camera runs an EXR Processor II, and has an F1.8 – F4.9 offering with 4x optical zoom and 4x intelligent digital zoom, combining to form 16x overall. Around back, the camera has a 3-inch display with 920k dots with vertical and horizontal viewing angles at 85-degrees. The flash is an integrated Super Intelligent Flash.

There’s Full HD 1080p video recording accompanied by five film-simulation modes: PROVIA, Velvia, ASTIA, Monochrome and Sepia. In the same vein, there are also photography effects included, with eight options being offered for still images: Miniature, Dynamic Tone, Pop Color, Toy Camera, Soft Focus, Low Key, High Key, and Partial Color.
