The new storage solutions are designed to let users easily organize and secure digital content from mobile devices and computers. Once the My Cloud is configured, users can store content on the drive and access the data from anywhere in the world.
The My Cloud is designed for the user to be able to get it up and running in minutes using a web-based interface. Once the drive is connected to the web and set up, users can access data stored on it using free WD desktop and mobile applications. Those applications allow users to get to data stored on the drive at home or the office from anywhere you can get a web connection.
The storage device has a gigabit Ethernet connection and uses a dual-core processor to speed up file transfer. The drive also ships with SmartWare Pro software for desktop computer users to allow the control how and when the backup the files. Apple users are able to take advantage of Time Machine backup software.
The My Cloud is offered in three capacities including 2 TB, 3 TB, and 4 TB versions. The drive also has a USB 3.0 port built-in allowing users to connect an additional external hard drive to expand storage capacity. MyCloud can also be used as a digital entertainment hub with the ability to stream content to DLNA certified devices. The 2 TB version and 3 TB versions are available now with the 4 TB version expected in November. Pricing the drives is $149.99, $179.99, and $249.99 respectively.
