NVIDIAhasreporteditsthird-quarter2014NVIDIA has reported its third-quarter 2014 financials, and in it was overall good news for the company despite some small bumps in the road. As of this past quarter, which ended on October 27, NVIDIA pulled in $1.054 billion, a jump of 7.9-percent over Q2′s $977.2 million in GAAP revenues. The year-on-year numbers aren’t so favorable, however, showing a decrease of 12.5-percent.
The numbers weren’t the only area NVIDIA saw a favorable change, with some other accomplishments over the third quarter including a strengthening of its mobile business, marking the first round of Tegra 4 devices shipping out. A new flagship GPU, the GeForce GTX 780 Ti, was launched, as well as the “world’s most powerful” graphics cards for workstations, the Quadro K6000.
VMware Horizon View gained support for NVIDIA GRID technology, and the company also introduced G-SYNC technology, which aims to sync display and GPU to eliminate lag and such. Rounding it all out was some improvements for NVIDIA SHIELD, namely with the launch of Gamepad Mapper for opening up support to thousands of additional Android games.
Said NVIDIA’s CEO and President Jen-Hsun Huang: “Visual computing is increasingly important to more and more markets. It’s creating demand for GPUs and opening up large opportunities. The proof can be seen in the proliferation of Tegra into new verticals like automotive and set-top boxes, in our all-time high Quadro and Tesla revenues, and in the record number of customer trials for our GRID datacenter initiative.”
