Piaget, maker of all sorts of beautiful and ultra-thin watches, has introduced the Altiplano 900P, the world’s thinnest mechanical watch. This offering is an all-in-one unit, and is the latest addition in a long line of well-known ultra-thin watches offered by the company. The 900P brings with it some new technologies and features, and will be available for a cool $20,000+ USD.

To mark its latest anniversary, Piaget has unveiled its latest ultra-thin, which holds the title of world’s thinnest at only 3.65mm in thickness. This beats out the likewise ultra-thin Jaefer-LeCoultre Master Ultra-Thin Jubilee. Building upon its very thin size is a design that melds the movement and case as a single unit, not allowing the movement and case to be detached from each other.

Beyond this, the caseback serves as a baseplate for the various movement components, according to Watch.am. The dial, then, is set into the bridge and is positioned off-center, as well as being smaller than previous offerings. It was these design choices that enabled Piaget to get the Altiplano 900P so thin, all which you can see in action in the image above.

Rounding it all out is mechanism that places the hands below the main bridges, something that Piaget has newly invented and for which there is currently a patent pending. The Altiplano is manually wound, has a power-reserve of 48 hours, and a case that measures in at a modest 38mm. The strap is black alligator while the buckle and pin are matching white gold, with an 18k white gold option.
